YuTUBE at the London Design Festival 2009

yutube

One of the projects I was working on for the past couple of weeks by invitation of the “what do you want to be,strange・r? rooming my world” initiative by [+0] & Singapore Creative Network UK, will be at the London Design Festival 2009. The festival starts Sept 19th through Sept 27th.

yuTUBE, the project, is conceived from the curiosity of embedding modern technology (function) in the past form. A computer transforms itself into the shell of an old tv set with a typewriter operating as its keyboard. Those in the London area, do pop by to say hello and play with it. I’ll have more to reveal and people to thank in the next couple of days during the festival.

Define Design

definedesign

A recent collaboration project with the good folks at Design Linguist. The basis of this project is really to go back to the roots with an open discussion on the definition of DESIGN, especially in the landscape here in Singapore where design is still in its infancy and often time misunderstood. The eventual manifestation has not been decided as the project will be following an organic evolution and pathway relying on the nature/quantity/meanings of the definitions that we will collect. Currently in Phase ONE of the project and calling for entries from all designers/non-designers to join our banter! What is your definition of DESIGN?

The Guitar Who Wants to Be a Camera

The Guitar Who Wants to Be a Camera

A very interesting project conceived by the brain behind [+0] , Lim Weiling. The project started from Tokyo with stranger encounters and interviews to passport journalling and object designs based on the narratives from the prior interview processes in Tokyo. I was psyched to contribute to this installation – the guitar who wants to be a camera. (i hope to get better pictures next week) The installation is now open outside Raffles City (diagonally opposite Capitol Building) for the Singapore Arts Festival till June 14, 2009.

Stamp with SuperStar & Friends

stamp

My design got into the Top 40 of STAMP – a movement to make over the mail boxes in Singapore. Painted 90% on the Sunday of March 11, with help from my SuperFriends. Completion and touching up will be done on March 18. Inspired by Louis Vuitton, I used it as a concept to promote the island as a shopping paradise by replacing the monograms with symbolic Lion icon that represents Singapore; a shopping bag icon; an abstract representation of the national flower the orchid and the abbreviation of Singapore – SG. For now, the working title is LVSG.

Voting starts April 2, check out the Stamp website for details.
Gimme a vote if you like my work.
